Obituary for Wendell B. Perry

Wendell B. Perry, 92, of Ligonier, died Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his home.

He was born November 4, 1926 in Herminie, a son of the late Charles E. and Zula Fenton Perry.

Prior to his retirement in 1989 he had been employed by Latrobe Steel for over 38 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Ligonier Masonic Lodge #331 F&AM. Wendell enjoyed attending the Ligonier YMCA daily. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, hunting, and making his annual trip to the apple and peach orchards to buy fruit to give it away to family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Ambrose Perry in 2010 and by three brothers and two sisters.

Wendell is survived by three children: Debbie (Kenneth) Taylor of Lodi, CA, Connie (Thomas) Short of Pleasant Unity, and Kenneth B. (Sharon) Perry of Jeannette, eight grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, Rebecca, Abigail, Lillian, Esther, Donnie, and Robbie, two great grandchildren: Vincent and Miriam, and by his faithful furry companion "Vinnie".

Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Inc., 144 East Main Street, Ligonier, where Wendell's life will be celebrated Friday at 11:00AM with the Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

The Ligonier Masonic Lodge #331 F&AM will hold services in the funeral chapel Tuesday at 7:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, it was Wendell's wishes that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
