Obituary for Donald P. Zurfluh

Donald P. Zurfluh, 86, of Ligonier, died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living, Latrobe.

He was born January 17, 1932 in Ridgway, PA, a son of the late Peter and Anna Miller Zurfluh.

Donald was an aeronautical engineer working most notably for Piper Aircraft in Loch Haven. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a devoted and active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. He was the Designated Engineering Representative for the FAA. He loved to take long walks in the woods admiring all that God had created for him. He was well-known for his woodcarving skills.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Miller Zurfluh in 1996, his second wife, Dorothy Muir Zurfluh in 2018, a brother, Robert Zurfluh, and three sisters: Ruth Anderson, Doris McCoy, and Margaret Cattoni.

Donald is survived by four children: Lori R. Kontz of Latrobe, Aleta W. Yarrow of Elmire, NY, Derek A. (Sonya) Zurfluh of Leesburg, VA, and Aaron (Teri) Zurfluh of Courtland, VA, three step-children, Jeanne (Gary) Goodlin of San Antonio, TX, Cathy (Regis) Campbell of Beaver Falls, and Scott (Heidi) Dolinich of Ligonier, and six grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Calvary United Methodist Church Tuesday, from 10:00AM until the time of service at 12 Noon with his pastor, the Rev. Joshua H. Ricketts officiating.

Interment will be in Schenks Cemetery in Centre County.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Donald's memory to the Calvary United Methodist Church.
