Obituary for Alan E. Ludwig

Alan E. Ludwig, 77, of Ligonier, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

He was born June 12, 1941 in Latrobe, a son of the late Floyd and Marian Reintgen Ludwig.

Prior to his retirement in 2001 he had been employed as an educator for the Ligonier Valley School District for over 38 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Laughlintown Protective Assoc, Byers-Tosh American Legion #267, and the PSEA. In his retirement years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and woodcarvings of vary species of wildlife. Alan deeply loved his family and his five grandchildren brought him tremendous joy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Elizabeth "Liz" Kozenko Ludwig, two children: Dr. Deneen (Christopher) Zaetta of Shorewood, MN, and Dr. Jason A. (Jessica) Ludwig of Greensburg, five grandchildren: Jake and Zachary Zaetta and Brandon, Abigail, and Madison Ludwig, two sisters: Janice (Jim) Gebicki and Joanna "Jodi" (Jack) Taylor, all of Latrobe, and two brothers: Richard (Kate) Ludwig of Derry and Mark (Joann) Ludwig of North Versailles.

Alan's family and friends will gather together Sunday from 12-2 and 6-8:00PM at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Inc., 144 East Main Street, Ligonier.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00AM at Alan's childhood church, Holy Family Catholic Church in Latrobe with the Rev. Justin Matro, as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe.
